JUSTICE LUND delivered the opinion of the court:

On January 19, 1989, defendant Phillip Schutz was found guilty by a jury sitting in the circuit court of Vermilion County of committing the offense of armed robbery. (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1989, ch. 38, par. 18-2.) He subsequently received a 14-year prison sentence. Defendant now appeals.
