After a trial to a jury on the charges of murder and possession of a pistol without a permit, the defendant was convicted of the lesser included charge of manslaughter in the first degree in violation of General Statutes § 53a-55 (a) (1) and the original charge of carrying a pistol without a permit in violation of General Statutes §§ 29-35 (a) and 29-37 (b).
