BRENNAN, J.

Defendant pled nolo contendere but mentally ill to two counts of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, MCL 750.520b(1); MSA 28.788(2)(1), and was sentenced to concurrent prison terms of eight to sixteen years.

In his appeal, defendant raises four allegations of error. We discuss them as follows.
