After a joint bench trial, defendants Jody Crose and Abel Garza were convicted of delivery of a controlled substance (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 56 1/2, par. 1401(a)(2)), and each sentenced to six years' imprisonment. (Crose's and Garza's cases were severed from that of a third defendant, Carl Tatman, who had been convicted of narcotic trafficking...
