Bobby Lee Dean (Dean) appeals from a sentence imposed in excess of the guideline range of imprisonment calculated pursuant to the Sentencing Reform Act of 1984, 28 U.S.C. § 994(a).

Dean was charged in a two-count indictment with possession of a firearm after having been convicted of a felony in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(1). Pursuant to a plea agreement, Count I (possession of a revolver) was dismissed and Dean pled guilty...
