The plaintiff, Rhonda Danhof, was a passenger in a truck which lost control on a gravel roadway in Marshall County, Illinois, which resulted in Rhonda becoming a quadraplegic. The truck was owned by Rhonda's fiance, Ted Vickers. At the time of the accident, Ted, who was also a passenger in the truck, was allowing his 13-year-old sister, Rebecca Vickers, to drive the truck.
