In the summer of 1983, defendant William Stillwell, Sr. attempted to end his financial woes by burning down his Alsip, Illinois house and collecting the insurance. Stillwell offered $5,000.00 to his codefendant William Stevens, and a friend named Raymond Schultz, to set the fire. Stevens and Schultz both agreed as the list of participants grew. In preparation for the arson, Stevens asked his friend, Richard Pischler, to get some paint thinner...
