This appeal arises from a maritime collision which occurred on May 3, 1985, when a vessel owned and insured by appellees, Pilot River Transportation and Wausau Insurance Companies (collectively referred to as Pilot River), collided with the Pig's Eye Railroad Bridge, owned and operated by appellant, Chicago and Northwestern Transportation Company (C & NW).
