On October 4, 1986, at approximately 5:00 a.m., plaintiffs, Sylvia Frank and Leonia Grandison, were fare-paying passengers in a taxicab driven by Fred Jefferson which was involved in a collision with another vehicle at the intersection of North Rampart Street and Esplanade Avenue in New Orleans.
