Uriel Lara-Velasquez ("Lara-Velasquez") appeals his convictions and sentences on two counts of controlled substances violations: importation of marijuana into the United States from Mexico in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 952(a), 960(a)(1) (1988), and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) (1988).
