The issue in this case is whether Alvin G. Taylor, a debtor under Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code, is entitled to a discharge of his ongoing obligation under a state-court divorce decree to remit to his former wife one-half of the payments he receives under a pension plan. The Bankruptcy Court denied the discharge, on the grounds that the prospective obligation to turn over a percentage of the pension payments was not a "debt" subject to discharge...
