Defendant, Jose Martinez, was charged by indictment with two counts of murder (Ill.Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, pars. 9-1(a)(1) and (a)(2)) and one count of armed violence (Ill. Rev.Stat.1985, ch. 38, par. 33A-2). The defendant filed two pre-trial motions, a "Motion to Quash Arrest and Suppress Evidence" and a "Motion to Suppress Statements," which were denied.
