Following a consolidated, stipulated bench trial conducted in the circuit court of McLean County, the defendant David W. Beehn was found guilty but mentally ill (GBMI) of the offenses of burglary, criminal damage to property having a value in excess of $300, and the aggravated battery of a correctional officer. (Ill.Rev.Stat.1989, ch. 38, pars. 19-1, 21-1, 12-4(b)(6).)...
