This court previously found in this class-action lawsuit that the promotion system of the Police Department of the City of Montgomery, Alabama had both the purpose and effect of discriminating against female police officers in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended.1 Jordan v. Wilson, 649 F.Supp. 1038
