KRAVITCH, Circuit Judge:
John H. Evans, Jr. appeals his conviction on one count of attempted extortion under color of official right in violation of the Hobbs Act, 18 U.S.C. § 1951, and one count of subscribing to a materially false federal income tax return for 1986 in violation of 26 U.S.C. § 7206(1).
