Quinton Dandre Scales was convicted after a jury trial in federal district court of possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of cocaine in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1) (1988), and 21 U.S.C. § 841(b)(1)(B) (1988). On appeal, Scales challenges the district court's denial of his motion to suppress evidence of cocaine found in his suitcase and statements made in connection with the seizure of this physical evidence...
