Defendants, the Alton and Southern Railway Company (hereinafter Alton & Southern) and the Monsanto Company (hereinafter Monsanto), appeal from a judgment of the circuit court of St. Clair County entered on a jury verdict in the amount of $3,825,607 for plaintiff, Roger Grimming.
