This case arises out of an accident aboard an offshore drilling rig. Appellee John Boyle was injured as he assisted in transferring a flexible, four inch mud hose back to a supply vessel.

Boyle sued Pool Offshore Co., the operator of the drilling rig and Seahorse, Inc., the operator of the supply vessel.1 The case was tried before a jury which returned a verdict awarding Boyle $266,910.00 in damages...
