This case began almost twenty years ago with a scandal in the Illinois General Assembly. For their roles in the scandal, the four individual defendants were variously convicted of mail fraud and travel in interstate commerce with intent to promote an unlawful activity. See 18 U.S.C. §§ 1341, 1952. These defendants now have petitioned for a writ of error coram nobis, asking that their convictions be vacated in light...
