On June 8, 1988, an eleven vehicle accident occurred on Interstate 40 east of Little Rock. At the time of the accident, the highway was clouded by smoke from wheat fields being burned by Lonoke County farmers. One of the vehicles was owned by Ryder Truck Rental, Inc.
