Plaintiff-appellee brought suit against appellant (the Bank) for wrongful foreclosure and wrongful eviction. At the close of the evidence, the trial court directed a verdict for plaintiff on liability as to both counts on the ground that the bank had failed to give proper statutory notice of proposed foreclosure under D.C.Code § 45-715(b) (1986). A jury then returned a verdict on damages, awarding plaintiff $30,000 for wrongful foreclosure and $500...
