Plaintiff, the State of Louisiana, through the Department of Highways (now known as the Department of Transportation and Development), obtained an order of expropriation on September 20, 1976, under LSA-R.S. 48:441, et seq., the "quick taking" statute. Plaintiff deposited $43,046.00 into the registry of the court for just compensation. The Terrebonne Parish land was expropriated for the construction of a bridge across the Intracoastal Waterway...
