Stephen E. Bland was indicted on December 2, 1986, for the second-degree murder of David Bird Tarver, Jr., a violation of LSA-R.S. 14:30.1. On March 22, 1988, by a 10 to 2 verdict, the jury convicted defendant of manslaughter, a violation of LSA-R.S 14:31.
