BLEIL, Justice.

Preston Hughes, III appeals from a conviction following his plea of guilty to the offense of aggravated assault. He contends that the trial court erred by failing to properly admonish him concerning the possible range of punishment and by accepting his guilty plea in the absence of an affirmative showing that he gave the plea knowingly, intelligently and voluntarily.
