Melvin Sweeney pled guilty in April 1988 in the United States District Court for the District of Vermont to one count of conspiracy to possess and distribute marijuana in violation of 21 U.S.C. § 841(a)(1), and one count of making a false statement in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1623(a).
