On April 14, 1987, Andy Venable entered a guilty plea to five counts of burglary and two counts of theft of property. On April 23, 1987, the Benton County Circuit Court sentenced Venable to fifteen years in the Department of Correction, but suspended five years, conditioned, among other things, upon Venable's not committing an offense punishable by imprisonment.
