For several years, the County of Delaware, Ohio has displayed a nativity scene on the county courthouse lawn during the Christmas holiday season. On December 13, 1988, however, the American Civil Liberties Union of Central Ohio ("A.C.L.U.") and two of its members brought this action, seeking an injunction prohibiting the display.
