The classic movie "Miracle on Thirty-Fourth Street" examines the need to believe in Santa Claus, who selflessly dispenses favors irrespective of the merit of the recipient. Just as some people need to believe in Santa Claus, other souls need to believe that they are Santa Claus. Mr. Church is apparently in the latter group. His harmless and ineffectual pretense resulted in a conviction for three counts of attempted bank and mail fraud...
