McMILLAN, Judge.

The appellant, an inmate of the Covington County Jail, was convicted in a jury trial of escape in the first degree, in violation of § 13A-10-31(a)(2), Code of Alabama (1975). Thereafter, he was sentenced under the Habitual Felony Offender Act to a term of life imprisonment. This appeal follows.
