OPINION

BROOKSHIRE, Justice.

The Appellant was convicted by a jury of the offense of aggravated assault after he had pleaded not guilty. Punishment was assessed by the jury at ten years confinement plus a $5,000.00 fine.

The indictment alleged that Appellant on or about February 24, 1988, did intentionally and knowingly cause serious bodily injury to the Complainant by cutting and stabbing her...
