HOGAN, Judge.

A jury found Andrew Funkhouser guilty of selling cocaine, a controlled substance, in violation of § 195.200.1(4), RSMo Supp. 1984. Upon a finding that the movant, to whom we shall refer as the defendant, was both a prior and a persistent offender, the court assessed his punishment at imprisonment for a term of thirty (30) years.
