The defendant, John Pittman, was charged in an information with the crime of murder in violation of General Statutes § 53a-54a (a).1 The charge arose out of the homicide of the defendant's wife, Gloria Pittman, who was stabbed to death in her automobile on October 13, 1985, in Hartford.
