GRANT, Justice.

This is an appeal from the district court for Douglas County. Defendant, Ward W. Hayden, appeals his commitment to the Lincoln Regional Center (Regional Center) in conjunction with his acquittal, by reason of insanity, of stabbing his ex-wife. The stabbing occurred on October 10, 1987.

On October 15, 1987, defendant was charged with second degree assault and use of a knife to commit a felony in violation of Neb.Rev.Stat. §§ 28-309...
