After a jury trial in the Superior Court, the defendant, Julio Salcedo, was convicted on two indictments, one charging trafficking in cocaine in violation of G.L.c. 94C, § 32E (1986 ed.), and the other charging unlawful possession of a firearm, G.L.c. 140, § 129C (1986 ed.). The defendant appealed and we transferred the case here on our own motion.
