MARTIN, Justice.

We find the defendant's assignments of error to be without merit and conclude that his trial and sentencing were free of prejudicial error.

Our decision does not require an extensive recital of the facts. In brief, the evidence showed that on 14 September 1986 the body of Janie Brown Murdock, aged ninety-six, was discovered in the bedroom of her small apartment. Her face, neck and arms were battered and covered with blood and she was undressed...
