Defendant was convicted, following a jury trial, of possession of more than 50 grams, but less than 225 grams, of cocaine. MCL 333.7403(1) and (2)(a)(iii); MSA 14.15(7403)(1) and (2)(a)(iii). On the basis of a prior conviction for delivery of heroin in 1975, defendant was also charged as a habitual controlled-substance offender under MCL 333.7413(2); MSA 14.15(7413)(2).
