A Sarpy County District Court jury convicted Ronald R. Cox of child abuse, a Class IV felony under Neb.Rev.Stat. § 28-707 (Reissue 1985), and third degree assault, see Neb.Rev.Stat. § 28-310 (Reissue 1985), which, under the circumstances, constituted a Class I misdemeanor.
