Today's appellant at age twenty-three has been convicted of armed robbery and sentenced as an habitual offender to forty (40) years imprisonment without eligibility for parole. The conviction we examine rests almost entirely upon a confession. The record before us impresses upon us the sobering thought that we can never be sure a trial has produced the truth. We may only hope that fairness and fidelity to law may enable...
