After a trial to the jury on a substitute information,1 the defendant, Angel Rodriguez, was convicted of the crimes of kidnapping in the first degree with a firearm in violation of General Statutes § 53a-92a (a)2 and of sexual assault in the first degree with a deadly weapon in violation of General Statutes § 53a-70a.
