The defendant was convicted, following his conditional pleas of nolo contendere,1 of the crimes of sale of a narcotic substance in violation of General Statutes § 21a-277 (a) and illegal possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell in violation of General Statutes § 21a-279a (a).
