Following a jury trial, defendant was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon, MCL 750.227; MSA 28.424, and being an inmate in possession of a weapon, MCL 800.283(4); MSA 28.1623(4). He subsequently pled guilty to being an habitual offender, third offense, MCL 769.11; MSA 28.1083.
