Defendant Lewis Eugene Anderson III was convicted of first-degree burglary and first-degree murder for the fatal beating and stabbing of Ruth Patterson, and for stealing a small safe which belonged to her. We granted further review from a court of appeals decision reversing the convictions. The court of appeals majority based its reversal on two grounds: prosecutorial misconduct and juror misconduct.
