In the early morning hours of April 27, 1987 defendant, Edward Davis, went to the apartment of Renell Fields, the deceased, knocked on the door and was admitted by her. He then directed Ms. Fields, his estranged girlfriend and the mother of two of his children, to remove her clothes.
