Defendant does not argue in his brief any of the eight assignments of error that relate to the guilt determination phase of his trial. They are therefore deemed abandoned. Rule 28(b)(5), N.C.Rules of App. Proc. He also fails to argue three of the assignments of error listed in the record that relate to the sentencing phase. They too are deemed abandoned. Id.
