This action was brought to recover damages for personal injuries sustained by the plaintiff on October 16, 1981, at approximately 10:30 A.M., after she had alighted from a subway train operated by defendant at the Chambers Street subway station in lower Manhattan. According to the plaintiff's trial testimony, she emerged from the train and had taken a few steps. The doors had closed behind her.
