JURISDICTION

This is a personal injury action by an employee of a meat-packing plant against the plant's former owner. The plaintiff brought the action on dual theories of negligence and strict liability in tort. The trial court, on a motion for summary judgment, ruled that strict liability did not apply and that the negligence claim was meritless because the former owner owed no duty to the plaintiff.
