The third sentence of Maryland Rule 4-346(c) provides that a revocation of probation hearing "shall be held before the sentencing judge, whenever practicable."1 We granted the State's petition for a writ of certiorari in this case to decide whether the Court of Special Appeals had misapplied this provision.
