We are called upon to decide whether a trial judge may order "voluntary" commitment to a State mental health facility as a condition of probation. On January 20, 1987, William Stinchcomb, appellant, pled guilty in the Circuit Court for Baltimore City (Gordy, J., presiding) of assault and battery.
