This is a direct appeal brought by the State from a ruling entered in the circuit court of Cook County which held that section 5-6-1(d) of the Unified Code of Corrections (Ill. Rev. Stat. 1985, ch. 38, par. 1005-6-1(d)) violates equal protection guarantees and is, therefore, unconstitutional.
