THIS CAUSE is before the court upon defendant's and plaintiff's motions for judgment notwithstanding the verdict and defendant's motion to alter or amend judgment. Plaintiff, Balbino Garay, brought this suit in admiralty for injuries suffered while working as an employee on one of defendant's ships. The jury returned a verdict for defendant on all but one count, but awarded Garay $275,000...
